Life Legacy

Dominick “Dom” Galage entered into rest on February 10, 2013 peacefully at home with his family at his side.

The son of the late Joseph and Mary Galage, he was born April 25, 1933 in Newburgh, NY where he was a lifetime resident.

“Pop” as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren, had a lifetime full of accomplishments. As a young man he was active in sports playing high school football and track as well as serving as Senior Class President. He went on to graduate from Manhattan College with a degree in electrical engineering. Upon graduating he joined IBM where he enjoyed a highly successful career for over 40 years.

His most cherished accomplishment was the relationship and marriage with his wife of over 52 years, Pat Galage. Dom met Pat in high school where they fell in love. They were married in 1955 and spent the next 52 years together raising a family and actively participating in their community and church. Pat’s death in 2008 left a tremendous void in “Pop’s” life and now he can rejoin his bride.

In addition to his wife Pat he was predeceased by his sister Gracie Galage of Newburgh. Survivors include sons Michael Galage and his wife Pam of Louisville, KY, Timothy Galage and his wife Therese of Richmond VA, Daniel Galage and his wife Michelle of Newburgh, NY, and Kevin Galage and his wife Heather of Newburgh, NY. Additionally he was blessed with ten grandchildren: Jaclyn, Matt, Megan, and Ryan Galage of Kentucky, Stephanie Galage of Virginia, Becky Galage of Seattle, Daniel and Nicholas Galage of Newburgh, and Sam and Jack Galage of Marlboro.

Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 5 PM to 8 PM. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, Grand Street in Newburgh on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 10 am.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Dom’s name to the St. Patrick’s soup kitchen, 55 Grand St., Newburgh, NY 12550.
