Robert "Bob" Betz, age 87, passed away on August 8th, 2022, in Newburgh, N.Y., with his wife by his side. He was born on June 5th, 1935, in Brooklyn NY, but spent most of his life here in the Town of Newburgh.Bob was the son of Thaddeus and Dorthy (Seward) Betz. Bob is predeceased by his brother Donald Betz.

Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara Betz and his sister Diane Prytula. He is also survived by his Daughters, Heidi Gozza, Tammy Grube and Stacy Betz and his son Chester Betz, and by his six Grandchildren Erica Gozza, Kyle Sheehan, Hailey Messina, Ava Messina, Angelica Betz, and Giavonnia Betz.

Bob loved telling stories of his Army days in Germany. While serving in the United States Army, he worked as a cook. He served in the Army from 1961-1963. After the Army he started a construction business. Bob was the owner of Dutchess Custom Builders. He was a great carpenter, building many homes here in the Hudson Valley. He loved wood working in his spare time making numerous items from birdhouses to jewelry all out of different types of wood.

He was also an honorary member of the Cornwall Yacht Club, serving as the fleet captain for many years. He really enjoyed spending days boating and fishing in the Hudson River with his long time friends from the yacht club.

Bob was also a member of the Black Rock Fishing and Game Club, the NRA and Rod and Gun club where he competed in numerous pistol competitions.

He will be missed!

Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Monday, August 15 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.
