Ada Demasi, age 82, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Memorial Sloan Kettering, New York, NY, with her family by her side. She was born on June 12, 1940, in Abruzzo, Italy, to the late Amalia Barone and Antonio Cantoli.
She came to America in 1963, where she lived with her late brothers, Joseph and Frank Cantoli, and sisters-in-law, Anna and Filomena Cantoli.
In 1964, she was wed to her late husband Roberto Catalusci, and with their son Louis, they traveled to and from Italy every summer to visit and enjoy making memories with their families.
While living in Middletown, she worked as a seamstress at Calvert Coat Factory until she moved to Newburgh and worked as a seamstress at Loring Coat until she retired.
She later married Nick Demasi, where they lived in New Paltz, NY. Together they enjoyed dinner dances, traveling, enjoying good food, and making memories with their loved ones.
Ada's love was endless; she did everything and anything for her loved ones, and everything she did was with her whole heart. She was always someone you could count on to be there, make you feel better, and give you advice. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, traveling to Italy, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family. She cherished the importance of family and passed along many of her Italian traditions to the beautiful family she leaves behind.
Ada is survived by her loving husband, Nick Demasi. Her son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Linda Catalusci of Newburgh, New York; her stepdaughter and son-in-law, Angela and Carmine Bruno of New Paltz, New York; and her stepson, Carlo Demasi of New Paltz, New York; her grandchildren; Alicia Catalusci, Bobby Catalusci, Silvio Bruno, Matthew Bruno, and Michael Bruno. Her sister Nicoletta Settimio of Canton, Ohio; sisters-in-law Anna Cantoli of Middletown, New York, Filomena Cantoli of New Windsor, New York, and Maria Cantoli of Abruzzo, Italy; along with her many nieces, nephews, and cousins in America and Italy.
She is pre-deceased by her parents, Amalia Barone and Antonio Cantoli, her sister and brother-in-law, Elisabetta and Domenico Valentini, and three brothers, Frank, Joseph, and Umberto Cantoli.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend Ada's services which will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 4-7 PM at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY. Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Church - St. Mother Teresa Parish, 301 Ann Street, Newburgh, NY.
