Albert "Al" Leonard Wells, a lifelong resident of Newburgh, NY, passed away on July 7th, 2024, in Suffern, NY. He was surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren.
Born on February 3rd, 1945, in Newburgh, NY to Gloria Pinder and Leonard "Bully" Wells, he was one of six siblings along with Mickey Merrill, Dolly Napier, Harry Wells, Jimmy Wells and Eddie Wells.
Albert married Ruth Wells in Virginia in December of 1975 to which they remained together until Albert's passing.
He owned and operated Al Wells Blacktop of Newburgh, NY. Dad loved to play his guitar, along with preaching the Gospel. He was a true man of God! Loved by many! He became a traveling preacher in July of 1996 and was a member of Cornerstone Ministries Inc. of Bear, DE. He finally reached his goal in life after saving many lives through the Gospel! He is walking the "streets of gold", no longer in pain! He is in heaven now with some of his closest friends and family; Josh "Hooker" Smith, Mike "Mike the bum" Cooper, Richard "RC" Cooper and Robert Stanley, along with his sister Mickey Merrill, brothers Harry Wells and Jimmy Wells, niece Ashley Napier, his cousin Carmella and his Mother and Father.
Albert is survived by his wife; Ruth Wells, daughter; Tammy Stanley and his son Lenny Wells. His grandchildren; Ruthie Cooper, Levi Stanley, Macy Harrison, Mark Stanley, James Wells and Lenny Wells. He is also survived by great-grandchildren James Cooper, Ace Cooper, Lottie Cooper and Levi Stanley
Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home 481 Gidney Ave, Newburgh Friday July 12th from 4PM to 7PM. On Saturday July 13 there will be a prayer at 10AM at Brooks Funeral Home then burial at Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden.
