Alicia Torres-Diaz Contarino, 42, of East Durham, was taken by Angels to the kingdom of
Heaven on August 7, 2023. She was born November 13, 1980, in New Orleans Louisiana to
Carlos and Elizabeth Torres-Diaz.
Alicia, a woman of strong and powerful character devoted to family and community is survived
by her parents Carlos and Elizabeth; husband, Anthony; brothers Carl and Christian; son,
Nathaniel; daughters, Jasmine and Norah; and her adorable pets.
Alicia's first years of infancy were lived in Louisiana, the Military then moved the family to
Orange County, New York. Alicia graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and remained in
Orange County until she decided to move to a more secluded, friendly, and close community
(East Durham) to then marry Anthony Contarino, a man who stood by her side during her most
difficult times.
Alicia's great charisma and personality impacted many lives in particular those in her community
in which she is loved dearly, she always had a helping hand to lend without worrying about her
own needs. Alicia was loud and brave with an in-depth soul and huge heart, she served as a great
and powerful light on this earth and universe.
A legacy is left behind for others to learn about what love, cohesion, unity and the sense of
community is, Alicia definitely leaves an unfillable gap in the hearts of those who knew her.
