Allen E. Arterburn Jr. of Newburgh, affectionately known as Butch, passed away
Tuesday, May 28th, 2024 with his children and grandchildren by his side. A hardworking and
devoted family man, he was a lifelong resident of the area and was just 78 years young.
Allen E. Arterburn Jr., the cherished son of the late Helen Smith and Allen E. Arterburn
Sr., was born on November 9th, 1945, at Stewart Field Army Base in Newburgh, NY. He was a
beloved brother to the late Linda Mastrella and Frederick Smith and a devoted husband to his
beautiful late wife, Rena Edna Arterburn. At 25, Allen began his career as a construction
foreman with the laborers of Local 17, where he proudly served for 53 years. He was also a
dedicated member of the Elks Club #247 of Newburgh.
Allen's legacy lives on through his loving family: his son, Allen F. Arterburn; his son's
wife, Lynda Arterburn; his daughter, Heather Bequette; his four cherished grandchildren, Kayla
Arterburn, Nicholas Bequette, Blake Bequette, and Christian Arterburn; his precious
great-granddaughter, Milani Arterburn; his dear niece, Kelly Richardson; and numerous other
family members.
A wake will be held on Monday, June 3rd, 2024, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Brooks Funeral
Home, 481 Gidney Ave in Newburgh, NY. The funeral service will take place at 11 am on
Tuesday, June 4th at Brooks, followed by his burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, located at 93 Union
Ave in New Windsor, NY.
Allen was a loving father, uncle, and grandfather who will be missed every second of
every day. His memory will live on through his family, who are deeply grateful for the many
years they spent with him. The love he shared will be treasured forever.
Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Monday, June 3 from 4 - 7 PM. A funeral home service will take place on Tuesday, June 4 at 11 AM followed by burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
