Aloysius J. "Al" Schatz of New Windsor passed away on Thursday May 30, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh. He was 67 years old. The son of the late Johan and Margret Wolfring Schatz, Al was born on June 21, 1945 in Buchenbach, Germany. Al was married to Susan Cleeves. For over 30 years Al was the switchboard operator for the New York Stock Exchange. He was a 22 year survivor of heart transplant surgery. He was also a member of the New Windsor Lion's Club. Survived by his wife, Susan; his children, Paul Schatz, Lisa Prokosch and her husband Donald of New Windsor; his siblings, Resi Kotzbauer, Cilly Kotzbauer, Elisabeth Eckl, and Rita Sebald, of Germany; his grandchildren Christian and Toni Prokosch and many nieces and nephews living in America and Germany. In addition to his parents, Al was predeceased by his brother Fritz Schatz. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday June 4, 2013 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave, Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father John Vondras at St. Francis Church on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 10 am. Burial will follow in St. Francis cemetery, New Windsor.
