Alston R. Edwards entered rest on March 7th, 2023 at home in Newburgh,surrounded by loving family. He was 78 years old.
Alston was born to the late Uzziel Edwards and Olga Clarke on March 16th, 1944,at Spring Vale, St Catherine, Jamaica, but was a lifelong resident of Newburgh.He worked at Gemmark for over 30 years, then at Jet Fast Cleaning for 15 years.He was an avid outdoor enthusiast who would spend most of his time, especiallyin the summer, down by the Hudson River. He loved to detail his car and youwould spot his shiny red car a mile away coming down Broadway.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years. When he was alive Alston and Linda werealways together; you could not call one name without the other. They were liketwo peas in a pod.Alston leaves to cherish his memories, Linda (wife). his children, ShuridineEdwards, Andrea Edwards -Shorter (Edwin Shorter), Wesley Edwards (LatoyaEdwards)and Michael Hardy. Seven granddaughters: Keresha, Brandi, Jessica,Ruthann, Tamia, Ashley and Kimone. One grandson: Giovanni. Two greatgrandsons: Jalen and Zylen. Alston also leaves behind eight sisters and eightbrothers, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.The absence of Alston presence in our lives will be the most difficult part of thisjourney. He will be missed beyond words but will live in our hearts and memoriesforever.The Edwards family would like to express their gratitude for all the prayers, phonecalls, words of encouragements and the love that is shown towards us in this timeof bereavement.
Service will be held at Baptist Temple Church, 7 William Street Newburgh, NY12550. 10:00 AM - Viewing and 11:00 AM - Service.
