Americo Sanchez Burgos

Americo "Meco" Burgos Sanchez passed away on October 13, 2025, in Wallkill, New York. He was born on December 9, 1937, in Santa Isabel, Ponce, Puerto Rico, to Amparo Burgos and Severo Sanchez.

A man of Catholic faith, Americo's life was deeply rooted in family and tradition. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Americo Sanchez Jr. and his wife Selina Sanchez of Florida; Andres Thomas Sanchez of Florida; Andrieta Sanchez of Newburgh, NY; Ada Sanchez of Newburgh, NY; and Josephine Sanchez Smith and her husband Thomas Smith. He is also remembered by his daughter-in-law Iris Dominguez Sanchez of Newburgh, NY.

Americo's legacy continues through his large and cherished family, including 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Angel L. Sanchez and his wife Ada Luz of Newburgh, NY; Benjamin Sanchez of Bronx, NY; Isabel Moreno Sanchez and her husband Angel Moreno of Newburgh, NY; and Norma Sanchez of Florida. Numerous nieces and nephews also mourn his passing.

He was predeceased by his brothers Julio E. Sanchez, Virgilio Sanchez, Julio Sanchez, Edwin Sanchez; and sisters Virginia Sanchez and Felicita Sanchez.

Americo's life will be honored with the words of the "Padre Nuestro," a reflection of his enduring faith.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25th from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Brooks Funeral Home located at 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY 12550.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral services in his memory.
