Amir Dadgarian, age 38, passed away on June 1, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Noelani and her Bourke and Garzon family; parents Mehdi and Bridget Dadgarian, and Norma-Jean Dionne; baby brother Kavon Dadgarian and his family; aunts and uncles Cathy and Jim Mingo, Tom and Carol Dionne, Carol and Mike Morrison, grandmother Elaine Dionne, cousins Seana Droggits, Danielle McGillicuddy, Ariel, Bryce & Logan Morrison, and best friends and brothers Michael Fletcher, Aaron Colandrea, and Shawn Sopata along with their families who loved Amir like he was their own, and his countless others friends. His final moments were filled with laughter from so many wonderful memories shared by loved ones.Amir was born on April 2, 1985 by Mehdi Dadgarian and Norma-Jean Dionne in Mount Vernon, New York. He cherished his childhood, filled with fond memories of friends riding down "devil's backbone", building treehouses, and many other boyhood adventures from the 90's. These boys remained life-long friends, and these wonderful memories surrounded Amir in the final days of his life. Amir also loved his visits with his inquisitive and influential dad in New York City, as well as trips to Maine, where he cherished vacations with his loving and tenacious mother, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Along with his captivating and unique stepmother Bridget, these worlds created the curious intellectual, and the adventurer and explorer that Amir came to be.As a young man, Amir did not find the need to "grow up", work hard, and lose his love for life. Instead, he chose to drive through the beauty of the Mid-Hudson Valley as "work", discovering hidden gems along the way. To be with his friends, he enjoyed his evenings playing softball where he would again remain life-long friends with his teammates. Instead of fierce competitiveness, Amir preferred to crack open a beer, dive like a dolphin in attempt to catch a ball, and hang out long after the games have ended with his beloved Stupidheads, all with a smile on his face.Amir ended his 30's after a five year battle with cancer, never once giving up. But this decade of his life was also filled with adventures across the world with the love of his life, Noelani Bourke. They would later build their family of his beloved Peanut and Nader, who gave him joy, comfort, and unconditional love until the end. It was the greatest honor of her life to take care of Amir through his last years of sickness and health, as it created the most incredible bond and gesture of unconditional love that she will ever know.A special thank you to the nurses and doctors from both Vassar Brothers in Poughkeepsie, NY and Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City who treated Amir through several trials. As one of the first cell-therapy participants in the country, Amir has and will become an integral part in the research and future cure for cancer.Amir's celebration of life will be held on June 17, 2023 at Algonquin Park in Newburgh, New York.ReplyForward
