Obituary

Judge Andrew P. Bivona of Newburgh, New York, passed away at St Luke's Cornwall Hospital on November 19, 2018; he was 73.Andy was born on December 7, 1944 in Newburgh, N.Y. to Peter and Claire (Butler) Bivona. Andy loved his family above all else. He would always make time for being with his daughters and grandchildren, especially enjoying Sunday breakfast with his family. He also loved his dogs and will be greatly missed by his beloved Shadow.Andy honorably served as an officer in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He graduated from Cornwall High School, Siena College and proudly earned his Doctorate from Fordham Law School. After working as an attorney, he was elected Newburgh City Court Judge from 1984-1988. In 1988 he was elected as an Orange County Family Court Judge, where he served until his retirement. He was predeceased by his loving wife Carol Ann, who was his childhood sweetheart and wife of 48 years. He is survived by his daughters: Cheryl Conero and husband Kevin of Montgomery, N.Y. and Janice Colmone and husband Anthony of Kings Park, N.Y.; Grandchildren: Nichole, Allison, Andrew, Eric, Rachel and Lea.Andy also has three sisters: Nancy Maddux and her husband Fred of Elizabethville, PA., Carol Nocilla and husband Frank of Beaufort, S.C. and Pamela Burns and husband Royce of Pine Bush, N.Y. as well as several nieces and nephews. Our big brother was always there for us and will always be remembered for his kindness, love, and generosity. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8pm, Friday, November 23, at Brooks Funeral Home 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, November 24 at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 145 Benkard Ave., Newburgh. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
