Anna Iris Deida Vega

Anna Iris Deida Vega, 82, of Newburgh, NY, passed away unexpectedly on April 17, 2023, due to infection complications, surrounded by her family.
Anna was born on October 21, 1940, to Dominga and Francisco Hernandez in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. In her childhood, she emigrated to New York to join her parents in search of the American dream. Anna was an integral part of the rearing of her younger siblings as her parents worked hard to achieve that dream. She grew up in Brooklyn during the time of what is now called the "Golden Oldies" and was a great fan of "do-wop" music and later on the Beatles.
Early in life, Anna met her first spouse, Pedro Victor Vicente. Together they brought into the world five children, Iris, Pedro "Pete", Danny, Ivette, & Denise. Later in life, she met her life partner, Luis Deida Vega. Her youngest daughter Arlene, was a product of their union. Anna and
Luis remained married over 49 years by the time of her parting.
Anna will be greatly missed not only by her husband and children, but also by her 16 grand-children , 19 great-grandchildren, son in-laws, daughter in-laws, nieces, nephews and surviving siblings Jose "Joey" and Carmen. She was predeceased by her son Danny and brother Francisco "Frankie".
Anna was known for her fiery and feisty spirit. Always the diva, she ensured that she always had her hair and make-up done and was dressed to impress. She avidly enjoyed gardening, shopping, and cooking for her family.
Anna was strong-willed and stubborn, but those traits defined Anna. They were part of who she was, and her strength undoubtedly helped her deal with life's challenges. Her family knows that she is now at peace and is again reunited with her beloved parents, brother, and son.
