Antonio Simoni

July 28, 1939 ~ January 12, 2025

Antonio Simoni, 85 years old lived in New Windsor. Passed away January 12, 2025, at Joe Raso Hospice Residence, New City, NY. Born July 28, 1939, in Colli Frosinone (Italy) to Guglielmo and Lucia Simoni. Married Teresa Clark June 3, 1967. He was a Carabinieri (Italian National Police) in Italy stationed in Rome and Bologna before immigrating to America in 1964. Once in America, he worked at the United States Military Academy at West Point as a tailor making Cadet Uniforms. In 1979 he opened his own business Tony's Custom Tailoring on Broadway in Newburgh. In the years that followed he opened Simoni's International Fashions on Route 300 until he retired in 2013.

His true passion other than tailoring was being involved with UNICO which is an Italian American Service Organization. In his local Newburgh chapter, he was president for several terms as well as being an active member for many years. Antonio also held the National Director of Membership and Retention with the UNICO National Organization.  On August 7, 2022, the Newburgh Chapter honored him with a Lifetime Member Award along with presenting the Certificate of Appreciation from UNICO National.

Hobbies included watching soccer especially his team Torino, and of course his Grandson Michael playing college soccer. He enjoyed bowling, Bocce, gambling (slot machines), scopa cards, and loved his westerns.

Family was most important to him. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Teresa Simoni; son William and his wife Tammy; daughter Rosemarie and her husband Jamie; and son Anthony and his wife Christine; eight grandchildren: Antonio and fiancé Raphaela, Sara and fiancé Camilo, Jenna, Isabella and her fiancé Cesar, Lucia, Michael, Nicoletta and Nicholas and his wife Courtney; two great grandchildren Luca and Rosalie; his brother Vince Simoni and his wife Antonietta. He also has several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by his father Guglielmo and mother Lucia Simoni; brother Vincenzo Simoni of Italy; and his brother Mario Simoni and his wife Helen.

Visitation will be held on Thursday January 16, 2025, from 4 - 7 PM at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave, Newburgh, NY 12550. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday January 17, 2025, at Sacred Heart Church, 301 Ann St, Newburgh, NY 12550. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery 149 Cottage St, Middletown, NY 10940.
