Athanasios Bousios

October 25, 1945 ~ Septemer 6, 2026

A husband, a father, a friend, a devoted pizza man, and the life of the party.

On September 6, 2026, Athanasios (Arthur) Bousios, born October 25, 1945, in Kozani, Greece, peacefully departed this world at 2:30 a.m. after a fearless battle with health challenges over the last year.

Our hearts are broken, but his spirit lives on in everything we do. We will miss him in every memory we cherish, every experience we shared with him, every milestone he celebrated alongside us, and in the lasting lessons he taught us about what life is truly all about.

People grew to love Arthur for his incredible personality, charming smile, devotion to his pizza restaurant, quick wit, and infectious zest for life. He seemed to know something about everything, from cooking, cars, fishing, politics, and sports to, of course, knowing exactly which “hot machine” was at the casino the night before!

Arthur had a way of making you laugh, even on your worst days. During many of his pep talks with the people he loved, he often said, “Stop and smell the flowers, honey. Don’t worry! Slow down. Slow down.” Those words captured so much of who he was: someone who reminded us to live, to laugh, and to appreciate the moments right in front of us.

We leave him in God's hands as he travels home, and we are certain he has made a few stops along the way.

Our family is incredibly proud of his determination, drive, and will to live throughout this last year. His fight was admirable. If you ask anyone who knew him, they would tell you that his daily desire to keep fighting was rooted in his love for the woman who was the love of his life for 48 years, his wife, Josie.

Our father never knew what a day without her looked like. He adored her, and she adored him. They were inseparable, and their love was one of the greatest examples we could ever have witnessed.

As his beloved Josie faces her own health battle during this difficult time, we know she would have done anything to be with him in his final days. He looked for her until his last moment, and we take comfort in knowing that the love they shared never left him.

Arthur was surrounded by so much love from his three children: daughter Renee Ristatos and her husband, Kosta Ristatos; daughter Alexia Bousios; and son Nicholas Bousios.

The lights of his life in his later years were his two grandchildren, Eleni and Evan Ristatos. Nothing lit up his world quite like those two little smiles, or simply knowing they were coming to visit. Popu was overjoyed every time they walked through the door and never wanted their visits to end. They brought him a happiness that was impossible to miss.

Arthur was also deeply loved by many family members and friends, near and far, whose lives he touched in his own unforgettable way.

We ask that you remember our hero in all the ways you shared life with him. Remember his smile. Remember his laughter. Remember his stories, his advice, his stubbornness, his big personality, and all the little things that made him uniquely Arthur.

Dad, Artie, the love of our lives, thank you for teaching us to be brave. Thank you for teaching us to fight, to laugh, and to slow down long enough to smell the flowers. We promise to take care of things here, as long as you promise to be our number one angel.
