Audrey L. Valicenti died peacefully at home in Walden on Thursday May 11th, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. She was 81. Audrey was born in Newburgh on May 15th, 1941 to John Q. Butler and Dora Damman Butler. She was the oldest of four children which included brothers John and Karl and sister Dolores. She graduated from NFA in 1959. Soon after she started waitressing at Pats Bar and Grill on Liberty Street in Newburgh where she met the love of her life Tony Valicenti. On September 2nd, 1962 Audrey and Tony were married and for the next 48 years they were always together. Eventually they, along with Tony's brother Vince, opened Valicenti's Restaurant on 9W in New Windsor serving the best fish, steak, and Italian/American food in the area until their retirement in 2000. In 1967 her son Anthony was born and she was a devoted mother up until her death.In 2005 her only grandchild, "the little prince " Anthony Henry Valicenti was born and he was her pride and joy. She is survived by her son Anthony and daughter in law Cindy; grandson Anthony Henry Valicenti; brothers Karl Butler and John Butler, both from Wyoming; niece Kathy Corbin; and lifelong friends Maude Pearl Ciccone and Jodi Schuyler. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her husband Tony, her sister Dolores, and her infant daughter Nancy Dora.
Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Monday, May 15 from 11 AM ~ 12:30 PM followed by entombment at Cedar Hill Mausoleum at 1 PM.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Orange County for their wonderful service. They would also like to extend a very special thank you to Yolanda "Lanny" Yeomans for her kindness and caring ways in the care of Audrey. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to hospice of Orange County.
