Barbara M. Covert, 91, was a lifetime Newburgh resident. She entered into rest on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 in Newburgh. The daughter of the late Frank and Julietta Vidulich, she was born in 1932 on Prospect St. in Newburgh. She was a 1949 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy.

Barbara was also known as Bob, Bobbie, Vid, and Twin. She worked with her twin at the Newburgh Savings Bank for 18 years prior to marrying Joe Covert in 1967. She seemed to know most of the residents of Newburgh from her time at the bank, and had wonderful stories about growing up in Newburgh in the 1930's to-1950's. To her last day, she kept her terrific sense of humor and sunny, optimistic disposition.

Barbara was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church, She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Bobbie) Covert and husband Jason Brooks of Colorado, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph R. Covert, and two sisters, Natalie A. Kingsley and Nancy M. Vidulich, and half-brother the Hon. Paul F. Murphy.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday October 5, 2023 at St. Patrick's Chruch, Newburgh, Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
