Obituary

Benita Ann (Boggs) Nosek, 83, died Tuesday at St. Luke's Hospital, City of Newburgh.

Born in Jackson Heights, N.Y., July 25, 1940, she was the daughter of Lloyd W. Boggs and Margaretha (Lyon) Boggs.
A resident of Newburgh since 1986, Mrs. Nosek formerly resided in Queens and Poughkeepsie. She was a devoted ladies auxiliary member for the Winona Lake Fire House. She also loved to crochet and leaves behind many wonderful friends from her Town of Newburgh knitting groups, her favorite being the Yarntastics at Gardnertown United Methodist Church. A gifted artist from childhood, Mrs. Nosek loved attending local art exhibits, even displaying her beautiful watercolors in several juried shows over the years. The late-Barbara Bush inspired her to take up training, which resulted in her teaching local immigrants how to read English at the City of Newburgh Library.
Mrs. Nosek is survived by her son, John Kazolias, at home where he cared for her until the end, and her daughter, Diana Kazolias, of Pelham; and a sister, Lois Haner, of Raleigh, North Carolina. She was predeceased by her husband, John Nosek, in 2016. Also surviving are stepdaughter Ellen (Eleanor) and her husband Dr. Andrei Munzer, of Wallkill, N.Y.; stepdaughter Jennifer Pizzuto and her husband, Dave, of South River, N.J.; stepson John Victor Nosek and his wife, Wendy, of Walden, N.Y.; and, stepson Richard and his wife, Tammy, of Newburgh; many nieces, nephews, and step grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved dearly including, Jessica DePetro; George Vega; Mathew Gayton; Lyndsie Nosek; Ricky Nosek; Kristofer Dowe; Tiffani Nosek; Erin Nosek; and, Sam Munzer. Great grandchildren including Jack, Antonio, Lyla, Carter, Savannah, and Summer. During her last year, she enjoyed the company she spent with her devoted caregiver and "adopted" daughter, Barbara McMillan.
