Benjamin Newberry Ketcham Jr. aged 73 years of Mountainville, New York passed away comfortably at his family home in Mountainville on August 2nd 2024.
Born February 14th, 1951 at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh, NY, the son of Benjamin Newberry Ketcham Sr. and Monique M. Peignat.
As a young man Benny tried his hand at various forms of employment. From digging graves, to driving a milk truck in the early morning hours. A Cornwall High School graduate
Benny spent 26 years as a mechanic at Berniker Dodge on Main Street in Cornwall, NY.
Benny loved the outdoors and as early as his pre-teen years, he would hike and camp overnight with his buddies on nearby Schumemunk Mountain. Benny enjoyed collecting model cars and planes and eventually real cars. From early Ford Fairlanes to several Mustangs, which were his favorite! Benny loved watching Westerns and could watch any version of The Alamo anytime it was on, as well as anything with John Wayne or Clint Eastwood.
Benny was a huge fan of Tucson, AZ, where he proudly served his last military assignment. He had always hoped to visit there again.
One of Benny's favorite pastimes was simply sitting on the back porch on a warm afternoon, watching the birds, squirrels and the like play amongst the trees.
Benny proudly served his country as a Security Specialist in the USAF. His rank was Sergeant.
Benny received two awards during his service to his country. The National Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal while stationed in Thailand.
Benny is survived by two sons, Greg A. Ketcham his wife Lynette, and Benjamin C. Ketcham and his wife Linda of Pine Bush, NY; s ister Diana M. Ketcham of Dolgeville, NY, and brother Robert C. Ketcham of Mountainville.; t hree nieces, Jessica M. Hall Scibelli her husband Anthony K. Scibelli, Michele N. Hall, and Bridget A. Hall; t wo grandchildren, Kyle and Morgan; and five grand nieces and nephews: Anthony, Benito, Vincent, Bridget and Liana.
Benny was predeceased by his Father Benjamin Newberry Ketcham Sr., and Mother Monique M. Peignat.
Services will be held at Brooks Funeral Home, Newburgh, NY on August 7th from 4-7.
In lieu of flowers consider a donation in Benny's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital or American Cancer Society.
