Sister Beth Jaspers, O.P.
Sister Beth Jaspers, OP (Sister Elizabeth Margaret) of the DominicanSisters of Hope, died at Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry, NY, on May8, 2023. She was 84.The daughter of the late Elmer and Elizabeth (Wittrock) Jaspers, she wasborn October 17, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio.Sister Beth entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of the SickPoor, in August 1964, made her First Profession in September 1966, andFinal profession in March 1973. Sister Beth earned her RN from Good Samaritan School ofNursing, her BSN in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati, and her MSW from VirginiaCommonwealth University.Sister Beth worked with the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor Home Health Agency inCincinnati, OH (1968-73) and with Dominican Sisters Family Health Service in the Bronx, NY(1973-76). Since 1977, Sister has ministered in Norton, VA, where she worked in communityhealth and advocacy outreach for the Dominican Sisters Nursing Service (1977-90) and for theAdvocate Center since 1990-2014.Among the several boards that Sister Beth has served on are the Health Department Advisory,Family Oasis Support Services, the Rural Appalachian Development Association, the RemoteArea Medical Board, and Head Start.Sister is survived by her Dominican Sisters of Hope, and several nieces and nephews. She ispredeceased by her parents Elmer and Elizabeth Jaspers, and her brothers and sisters, GuyRaymond Jaspers, Richard J. Jaspers, Mary Carol Kohrs and Nancy Hasselbeck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday May 18, 2023 in the Chapel at theMariandale Retreat and Conference Center, Ossining, NY. There will be a prayer service at10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 a.m. Burial will take placeimmediately following the Mass in the Dominican Sisters' Cemetery on the grounds of theMariandale Center.
