Brian R. Bush, Sr.
October 24, 1949 ~ February 1, 2026
Brian R. Bush, Sr., affectionately known as "Pop-Pop," "Coach," or "Bushman," passed away on February 1, 2026, in Walden, New York, at the age of 76.
Born on October 24, 1949, in Utica, NY, Brian grew up in Remsen, NY until he attended SUNY Plattsburgh where he proudly played soccer.
Brian's love of sports extended far beyond his college years. A devoted fan of the New York Yankees, New York Jets, Boston Celtics, and Manchester United, he found happiness (and sadness when watching the Jets) in watching them all through every season. He coached recreational soccer and softball for many years in Highland Falls, NY, sharing his knowledge and love of the game. In addition to coaching, Brian volunteered as a Little League baseball and softball umpire and often served as an usher at Blessed Sacrament church. He retired from the US Postal Service after working there for 33 years. Beyond anything, Brian loved watching his grandchildren play sports and often traveled just to cheer them on.
Brian is survived by his daughter Shannon Camper (Eric); his son Brian Bush, Jr. (Elizabeth); his sisters Anne Hoben and Eileen Knapp (Jim); and his brothers Bernie Bush, Jr. (Kris), Robert Bush (Sherry), and Jim Bush and his granddaughters B'ney, Courtney, Rachelle, Brianna, Sabrina, Nadia, Elleana, Jocelyn, and the one and only grandson, Dominic. He was also a great grandfather to Ash, Renton, Reggie and Wolf and had a slew of nieces and nephews he adored. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernie Bush, Sr. and Mary Bush, and his brother Gary Bush.
Brian was sharp witted, hilarious, and a straight shooter. If you knew him, you laughed. So please raise a glass and have a laugh in his memory.
A celebration of his life will be held this Spring.
