Obituary

Bruce Alexander Evans

February 26, 1948 ~ January 22, 2024

Bruce Alexander Evans died of a cardiac event at his home in Orange Lake, Newburgh, NY on January 22, 2024 where he has recently been spending time with his family. He was 75 years old, and loved right up to the end. Bruce was both a lovely man, and quite a grumpy rascal, and you often didn't know which you were going to get. In the end, he was filled with gratitude and humility, and this was apparent in the compassion and love he showed for his family. Whether riding Harleys, playing basketball, chatting (arguing) over coffee or beers, Bruce was surely an original!

Bruce was born February 26, 1948 in Newburgh, NY. He spent his youngest years growing up with his parents Calvin Yates Evans and Virginia Nicklin Evans on the family chicken farm. He attended and graduated from Washingtonville high school and then enlisted and served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He spent many years employed, and eventually retired, as a big-rig truck driver, traveling locally and across the country. Bruce split his retirement years between Arizona and New York.

Bruce was married 3 times, the first marriage to Jean Louise Blundell, led to the births of his 3 children Joshua J. Evans, Jeffrey P. Evans, and Sean A. Evans. Bruce also has four grandchildren, Gage, Kate, Meg, and Ben (Budge) Evans.

Bruce was most happy riding his motorcycle, and in his younger years enjoyed basketball as a participant, and later as a spectator. He was an excellent driver and could back a 50' trailer into just about any spot. He grew up on a chicken farm, so his favorite meal category was meat and potatoes later in life.

The family is planning a celebration of life event in the coming weeks or months. We send Bruce off with a cheers and a big glass of cold milk!
