Bruno S.G. Marchetta of New Windsor, New York, entered in to eternal rest surrounded by his loving family on July 28, 2018, at home after a long battle with cancer. He was 81 years old.The son of the late Nicola and Carolina Marchetta he was born in San Salvo, Italy on February 28, 1937.Bruno was born and raised in San Salvo Italy. On Jan 13, 1957, he came as an immigrant to America where he immediately went to work for Bradford Pocket book, Penny Bag Co. and Luna Bakery simultaneously from 1958-1961, he returned to Italy in 1959, to marry the love of his life Maddalena Sirio. They celebrated 59 years of marriage on June 7, 2018. He briefly left his wife behind, in Italy to returned to America to become a citizen. During 1962-1971 he worked for Marlboro Bakery & GAF/American Felt & Filter until 1987. He also worked as a baker for Grand Union from 1987, until his retirement on November 3, 2001. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grand father whom enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, taking long walks and being surrounded by his family. There was not a person whom he met that instantly was attracted to his loving warm nature, his strength and his vitality for life. He loved playing rummy with his grandchildren during holidays or any special gathering. One of his favorite places to take his family during the summer was Coney Island as he loved being near the ocean.Bruno was predeceased by his brother Umberto (Giovanni) Marchetta his sisters Quintilia Battista, Adelina LaPiana, brother-in-laws Guisseppe LaPiana, Giovanni Archimede, Silvio Rossi, Carmine DiCasoli, his father-in-law Tommaso Siro and granddaughter Hadley Atwood Dubaldi. He is survived by his loving wife Maddalena at home his daughters Antonietta and her husband Anthony Chiocchi of Wallkill, NY, Silvana and her husband Sergio Riccitelli of New Windsor, NY, Loreta and her husband John Dubald of Newburgh, NY. Sisters Michelina Archimede of Jupiter,Fla. Marianina Rossi of Argentina, Maria Di Casoli, Vitalina and her husband Amodeo Colameo, Elda (Italia) and her husband Vincenzo LaPiana, sister-in-law Diva Marchetta, brother-in-law Giacomo Battista all residing in Italy, Mother-in-law Loreta Siro and sister-in-law Anna Sirio of New Windsor, NY. Grandchildren Patricia-Ann & her husband Jared Stoutenburg of Clintondale, NY, Tommaso and his wife Juliana Tompkins, Michael Dubaldi, Dominick Tompkins, Mario Dubaldi, Stefania Riccitelli and John Dubaldi of Newburgh, NY, great grandchildren Wyatt & Faith Tompkins. Several loving nieces and nephews.We would like to give special thanks to his family physician and friend of over 45 years Dr. Nicholas Bambino for his exceptional care of our father especially during his illness. His oncologist Dr. Yvonne Saenger, Dr. Ed Farhanghi, his neurologist & cardiologist Dr. John Hughes, and Dr. Harashan Weerackody. He had an amazing team of nurses from Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties whom cared for our father during his final days, thank you Lorna, Adria, Gina, Ann & Jesse, and most importantly his aid Amber who took the best care of our dad. Visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Tuesday, July 31 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 1 at Sacred Heart Church, with entombment following in Cedar Hill Mausoleum.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to American Cancer Society, PO Box 22470, Oklahoma City, OK 73123; or Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Dr., Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923.
