Candida Pabon

Candida Pabon passed away on January 15th, 2026, at the age of 90.
Candida was born on December 1st, 1935, to parents Aurelea Pantoja and Wenceslao Pabon.

She is survived by her children Pedro Valentin, Luz Noriega, Thomas Valentin, Carmen Acosta and Marisol Felix.
Candida was a proud Puerto Rican who was a student of the school of life who was known for
her feistiness, her strength and her love for her children. After years of hard work in leather
goods manufacturing in Puerto Rico, she moved to New York in 1972 with her six children and
then dedicated her life to raising her children and grandchildren there. In 2012, she endured the
profound loss of her daughter Justina Lopez to cancer.

As she got older, her health declined but her spirit did not. Her feistiness, willingness to
persevere and her scolding, while rough but necessary, will continue to live on in her children,
sixteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Service will be held on January 19th at 11am until 2pm at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh NY
12550. Burial to follow thereafter.
