Candida Rosa Rivera

Candida Rosa Rivera, "Candi", age 99, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026 in Brewster, NY.

She was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on May 28th, 1926, to Rafael and Ramona Santiago.

She married her childhood sweetheart, Joaquin Rivera (deceased), and they moved from Puerto Rico to New York City to start their beautiful life together. She dedicated her entire life to raising and loving her six children, two of which are deceased, John and Nelly.

She is survived by her remaining children: Miriam Rivera, Joaquin Rivera (Judith), Lillian Ascolillo (Kevin), and Theresa Schaub (Robert). She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 8 great, great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and 6 surviving siblings.

Candi was a devout Catholic in the Holy Rosary Society and will forever be remembered by her delicious Puerto Rican cooking, her beautiful smile and loving hugs whenever you came home.

Family, friends and others who loved her are invited to Brooks Funeral Home for visitation from 10:30am - 12:30pm followed by a 1:00pm mass at St. Patrick's Church; both in Newburgh, NY, on March 9th, 2026.

Christian burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.
