Carlo "Carlito" Torres
June 12, 1958 ~ June 6, 2025
Newburgh, NY
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved and precious angel Carlito, who departed this life on Friday, June 6th, surrounded by the love and care of his family and his dedicated personal aides. He was 66 years old.
Though grown in years, Carlito possessed the pure, gentle heart and mind of a child. His innocence, joy, and purity brought light and warmth to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. While Carlito was non verbal, he communicated love through his smile, his adorable laughter and his very tight hugs. We truly had an angel amongst us.
He delighted in life's quiet pleasures: a yummy Puerto Rican meal, a chocolate pudding and tropical juices. He reminded us that love is precious and the greatest wisdom is found in simplicity.
He was a cherished son, a treasured brother, a loving uncle, and a gift to all. His smile was unforgettable, his hugs heartfelt, and his spirit uniquely beautiful. In return, he was deeply loved—not for what he could do, but for exactly who he was.
Carlito is predeceased by his loving mother, Carmen J. Torres and Celestino Torres of Arecibo, Puerto Rico, his loving sister, Sandra Serrano and his brother Oscar Torres. He is survived by Lola Alvarez, Efrain Serrano, Milagros García, Sonia Harvey, Beatrice Serrano, Francisco Serrano, Rolando Serrano, Orlando Torres and Carmen Hansen. He is also survived by nine nieces and five nephews who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Though our grief is very deep, we are comforted by the joy he gave us and the lessons he taught us about compassion, kindness, patience, and unconditional love.
A celebration of Carlos "Carlito" Torres' life will be held on Tuesday, June 10th at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in his memory to Independent Living, Inc. Make a Difference—Donate Today.
