Carmela L. DeAngelo

October 2, 1935 ~ March 17, 2026

Carmela DeAngelo, a lifelong resident of Newburgh, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, with her son by her side.

She was born on October 2, 1935, in Poughkeepsie, New York, and spent her life devoted to her family, friends, and community. Carmela was a kind, loving, and caring woman who touched the lives of everyone she met. Her warmth, generosity, and compassion will always be remembered.

She is survived by her beloved son, Frank M. DeAngelo.

Carmela was a dedicated member of the Winona Lake Women's Auxiliary for over 30 years and proudly served as President from 2010 to 2011. She was also a proud member of the VFW Auxiliary 973 in Newburgh, and then later VFW Auxiliary 2064 in Maybrook. She gave so much of her time and heart to her community. She was also honored with induction into the Hall of Fame for bowling, reflecting her passion and talent for the sport.

In addition to her many accomplishments, Carmela played a special role in the lives of countless children in the community. Through her time at the bowling alley, she was a caring and guiding presence to many young people, always looking out for them and making them feel safe, supported, and loved.

Carmela will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her loving heart, her caring spirit, and the joy she brought to others.

She is predeceased and now rejoined with her husband the late Angelo DeAngelo.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Winona Lake Fire Department, 160 South Plank Road, Newburgh, NY 12550.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 20th from 4:00pm-7:00pm. The VFW will have a walkthrough service at 6:15pm with a funeral service beginning at 6:30pm at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY 12550.
