Obituary

Carol Ann Orsino, 80, entered into rest on December 1, 2023 surrounded by her loving
family. Born in Capiague NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy
(Schade) Holch, who both passed away when Carol was young. She was lovingly adopted
by her late Aunt Martha and Uncle Otto Schade, who loved her like a daughter.

Growing up in Cornwall NY, Carol was a kind soul, who was described in her yearbook by
others as graceful and was quoted saying, "The two noblest things are sweetness and
light." She carried that sweetness as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and
friend. Anyone who met her, described her as the nicest person they ever met. Over
the years, she worked as a waitress, bank teller, teacher's aide and a bakery clerk, but
her favorite job in life was being a Mom to her 4 children. She was always the Mom that
everyone in the neighborhood loved…..always had a kind word for anyone who came by
the house. She loved living in Colden Park and giving her kids a wonderful childhood
filled with friends, pool days, bike rides and neighbors who were like family to all of us.
She was happy that her grandchildren were able to spend many weekends with her in
this home and have some of the same experiences her kids had growing up there.

Carol wasn't the most adventurous person when it came to traveling, but rather enjoyed
simple trips like the yearly family vacation to Lake George, afternoon fishing trips with
the neighbors, and two week long vacations to her sister's home in Long Island with all
the kids. As the years went by, she adventured a little further with a few cruises, a trip
to Florida, visits to Rhode Island with her kids and grandchildren and a couple of trips to
Myrtle Beach. But some of her favorite adventures were always her trips to the casinos
with some of her favorite people in life…..she never seemed to win big, but she surely
had stories to tell of those late nights of fun and laughter.

Her sense of humor shined even when she wasn't trying to be funny. She made her
family laugh with her hilarious words and quotes she made up constantly. Her comical
and loving nature helped create strong bonds with each of her children and
grandchildren over the years, leaving them with great memories and plenty of inside
jokes to make them smile. She loved playing cards and board games and would learn
any new ones that her grandchildren asked her to play over the years. Trying to be
more tech-savvy, she even learned how to use her iPad to video chat with family and
play her games.

Carol's health started declining the last 6 years, but with the help of her children, she
was able to find the strength and courage to change everything to help her live a longer,
healthier life. Selling her beloved home was a difficult decision, but being able to move

in with both of her daughters was a blessing she cherished. She loved being able to
spend every day with her family whether it was in Rhode Island or New York. She even
joined a gym at the age of 75, which helped her remain strong to help fight her COPD
these last years. Making it to 80 years old this past May, was a goal she often talked
about. We were happy to surprise her with a small get-together to celebrate this
milestone with her.

She is survived by her children, Christine Carceller and her husband Sal of Portsmouth
RI, Bradley Redfern of Montgomery, and Michelle Weckeman and her husband Sean of
Marlboro; her sister Barbara Damianos of Port Jefferson; her "brothers" Rudy (Sadie)
Schade of Highland Falls and Robert (Barbara) Schade of Middletown; and her
grandchildren, Brianna, Adam, Madelyn, Cassidy, Teghan, Max and Colin. She was
predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Peter Orsino and her beloved son, Peter
Orsino Jr. Living without her youngest son for the past 34 years has been the hardest
part of life she has had to endure, a pain she no longer needs to carry since she has
finally been reunited with him. She will be missed beyond measure by all those who
were blessed to have known her.

"Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be
I could fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings
Fly, fly, so high against the sky
So high I almost touch the sky
Thank you, thank you
Thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings"
