Caterina Vaccaro, of Newburgh, entered into rest on Thursday, October 5, 2023. She was 88. Born in Alcamo, Sicily, Italy on September 26, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Gaspare and Francesca (Asta) Coraci. She married Gaspare Vaccaro in 1957 in Alcamo, Sicily. They started their family in Brooklyn and then settled in the Newburgh area in the early 70s and established Roma Imperial Restaurant. Caterina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and an extraordinary woman. She loved being with her family and loved to laugh. She was our rock, our foundation, and she will be dearly missed.

Caterina was pre-deceased by her loving husband Gaspare Vaccaro, her sister Maria Antonina and brother in law Castrenze Amato. She is survived by her children, Peter Vaccaro and Vita Vaccaro; her sister Josephine (Leo) Maniscalchi, grandchildren; Nicholas Pacifico, Anthony Pacifico, Sabrina Vaccaro (Mitchell) McEwen , Samantha Vaccaro (Fiancé Max) and Catherine (Michael) LoPresti and two great grandchildren Pietro and Marco LoPresti. Nieces and nephews; Josephine Bologna, Danny Maniscalchi, Sam Amato, Gaspare Maniscalchi, and Frank Maniscalchi.

Visitation will be held from 10-11:30am on Tuesday, October 10 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00pm in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, where Caterina was a parishioner. Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh.
