Cheryl L. Ferguson Walker, MS, RN, ACNS-BC, CWCN, 58 of New Windsor, passed away at home surrounded by family on January 13, 2016. The daughter of Clifford and Henrietta (Yost) Ferguson, she was born April 22, 1957, in the Bronx. Cheryl was a Registered Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Med-Surg Educator and worked, over the course of her almost forty year career, at a host of places including Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, Mount Saint Mary's College, Vassar Brothers Medical Center and Orange Regional Medical Center. She was an avid runner, loved hiking, skiing and cross country skiing, and training all of her dogs, most recently her Rottweiler Sampson. She was loved by many and will be forever missed. Cheryl was the type of person who everyone should have the pleasure of knowing. She was the mother who would do anything for her children, the friend who would always lend an ear, and the neighbor who would always be willing to check if your childs cut needed stitches. She was a loyal person, remaining close with her friends from childhood and college. Cheryl valued her family and quality time with those she loved, above all else. In addition to her parents, Cheryl is survived by her children, Kristen Antoni and husband Bryan of Cornwall, Lindsay Walker and longtime boyfriend Edmund Rumman of Long Island, and Matthew Walker of New Windsor; her siblings, Clifford Ferguson II and wife Diane, Deborah Cortland and husband Doug, and Dana Cohen and husband James; her sister-in-law Mary Grace Savage and husband Patrick; nieces and nephews, Eric, Jeffery, Allison, Cliffy, Seth, Jack and Mia, Monica and Keara; her beloved Rottweiler Sampson; and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4-9 pm on Friday, January 15 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A service will be held at 2 pm Saturday January 16 at Union Presbyterian Church, 44 Balmville Rd., Newburgh.
