Clarence McMurtrie, Jr., a long time Newburgh resident, entered into eternal rest on April 20, 2017 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital. He was 82 years old.He proudly served his country in the Army Reserves and owned and operated Mac's Cleaning Service, a successful business in the Hudson Valley for over 50 years. Clarence will always be remembered by his family for his passion for boating and memorable gatherings, spending many great summers at Orange Lake water skiing with his family and friends. His many talents included drawing, gardening, coming up with innovative solutions to fix almost anything, but most of all, he will always be fondly remembered for his tremendous care, love and devotion for his wife, Geraldine.He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Geraldine McMurtrie, his children, son Randy McMurtrie and wife Valerie of Newburgh NY, daughter Stephanie Bloomer and her husband Frank of Cornwall, NY, his grandchildren, Stephen Bloomer, Briana Bloomer, Sara McMurtrie and Molly McMurtrie. sister in Law Beverly and her husband Sandy Sharp, nieces Lauren Price, Lori Bell and Ondrea Sharp McCarvel; as well as great-nieces and recent great-great nephew. Clarence was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Pearl McMurtrie, and brother Clifford McMurtrie. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Monday, April 24, 2017 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh. A funeral service will be held at Brooks Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor, N.Y.
