Concepcion Galindez
February 6, 1930 ~ February 20, 2025
On the afternoon of February 20, 2025, God called one of His fiercest warriors home. Concepción Galindez was born on February 6, 1930, in Manatí, Puerto Rico. She grew up on a small homestead with her father, Liborio Arce, and mother, Josefina Cortes. She was one of six children and could often be found talking about how her brothers looked out for her. In 1953, she moved to New York and settled in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. She began working at a hat factory. In November of 1954, she married Herminio Galindez. Their union produced their daughter Betsy Escanio, the apple of her eye. She was a faithful member of the Church of God, of 6th Street, where she attended and served for 48 years and taught children's Sunday School classes. In 2008, she moved to be with her family in Plattekill, NY, and attended Tabernacle of Christ Church in Beacon, NY. At church, she was the congregation's grandma. She enjoyed fellowshipping with the Golden Age Ministry and being a part of the women's ministry. Her happiest moments were those that she spent with her family, both related by blood and love. She loved deeply and was loved deeply.
Her legacy includes her daughter and son-in-love, Betsy and Ismael Escanio, her granddaughter, Christina Escanio, her grandson and granddaughter-in-love, David and Joanna Escanio, and her grandson, Jonathan Escanio. She leaves behind her great-grandson Abraham Escanio, who always kept her on her toes. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, adopted grandchildren, and church family that miss her terribly. We are comforted by our "blessed hope" knowing that this is not goodbye but until we meet again.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm - 7 pm on Friday, February 28 at Tabernacle of Christ Church, 483 Main St., Beacon, NY, with a service at 7 pm. Family and friends will gather once again at Tabernacle of Christ Church on Saturday, March 1 at 10 am, with burial following in Modena Rural Cemetery, Modena.
