Dionisia Rivera
February 4, 1926 ~ June 30, 2020

Dionisia Rivera was a 50-year resident of Newburgh, NY and Ft. Lauderdale, FL. On June 30, 2020 she entered into rest in the company of her loving family. She was the daughter of Eugenio Santos and Ceferina Hernandez Amequita. She was born on February 4, 1926 in Tela, Dpto. de Atlantida, Honduras. She was married to the late Tulio A. Rivera on October 31, 1949 in El Progreso, Honduras.
Mom's greatest accomplishment was helping her husband and eight children come to the USA and lay the foundation for the success of our futures. Cooking was one of her greatest joys and it showed by how much we loved her culinary creations. She had a saying, "My food is delicious because I cook with love". She was witty, funny, and had an incredible memory. Loving and loyal were other qualities that she possessed. Our irreplaceable MATRIARCH! Hardworking, tireless and a role model to all of us. Courageous beyond words, she ventured alone to America seeking a better life for her family. Many were her passions; among them traveling, dining out, shopping and looming hats for charity with her "chicas". But most of all she loved family gatherings to show us the importance of being together. Her love was endless, nurturing, protective and she motivated us and inspired us to achieve the American dream. She leaves behind a great legacy. A mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother to her beloved family. That was her greatest triumph. Her impact on our lives will be felt by sixty-one direct descendants that she leaves behind. She leaves a great void in our hearts. We will miss you.
She is survived by children: Miriam Rivera, Vilma Rivera, Tulio and Eufemia Rivera, Sandra and Oscar Cruz, Adolfo and Lisa Rivera, Maria Rivera and Vicente Rozas, German and Mayleen Rivera, daughter in law Donna Rivera; sister Daisy Merino; grandchildren: Adolfo A. Rivera, Nicole Rivera, Daniella Rivera, Christina Langston, Joseph Miceli, Sabrina Cruz, Ernesto Cruz, Samuel Cruz, Alexa Rivera, Luis Salgado, Rolando Salgado, Alejandro Salgado, Arturo Rivera, Lisa Vega, Dayana Rivera, Maribel Janotti, Maelissa Rivera, Trelinda Greene, Briana Rivera, Carlitos Rivera, Yasmin Montalvo, Mauricio Rivera, Mario Merino, Omar Merino and extended family and many great grandchildren and great greatgranchildren.
In addition to her husband Tulio, she was predeceased by her son, Carlos A. Rivera, her mother, Ceferina Hernandez Amequita, and her sisters Aurora Hernandez and Amparo Hernandez.
We love you and will miss you forever. Until we meet again in God's love. Your loving family.
