Dolores Perez
June 2, 1947~ January 17, 2024
Dolores Perez Rosado aka Mama Dolores longtime resident of the Bronx passed away at the age 76 on Wednesday January 17th 2024. Dolores was born on June 2nd, 1947, in Isabela, Puerto Rico to parents Eugenio Perez and Luz Elida Rosado. She was the eldest of a total of 13 children. She was predeceased by her brothers Miguel and Cesar. She is survived by Victor, Angel, Maria, Enrique, Milagros, Benjamin, Elida, Eugenio, Celida and Carlos.
At the age of 19 Dolores was forced to leave her native Puerto Rico and seek out what she hoped would be better opportunities in the United States. At the age of 26 Dolores met and married Crecencio Antonio Diaz from the Dominican Republic in New York City. That union produced three children: Ariel Antonio Diaz, Yesenia Sulay Diaz and Juan Carlos Diaz. She also gained a daughter-in-law when Ariel married Gloria Lymary Guzman on December 20th, 1998. Dolores had 7 grandchildren; Raquel, Abigail, Grace(16), Nevaeh(11), Nathalia(8), Genevieve(5) and Yannick (3wks).
Dolores held quite a few jobs including dry cleaning associate, camera woman, home health aide, lunchroom aide and head start aide. The responsibility as a homemaker was what she was most proud of. Dolores was a God-fearing person so when an elderly woman she cared for by the name of Elsa continuously invited her to visit her church she accepted walking into the doors of New Jerusalem Pentecostal church March 1986. She was a member of this congregation for 34 years until her relocation to Dutchess County in 2020. During her time as a member of New Jerusalem Pentecostal church she was a Girls and Woman's ministry leader, a deaconess, Sunday School volunteer dedicated fund raiser (Missions Dept, Women Min., Youth Min., Children's Min. and for the building fund). She enjoyed participating of many evangelistic crusades in NYC as well as in community outreach. You would often see her faithfully every service playing either her cabasa, tambourine or güiro to the many songs and hymns.
Although known for her stern, serious and disciplined demeanor Dolores had a wicked sense of humor. She loved the pets she had over the years: Pinta, Bambi, Perla and Nene. She became a doll collector with her collection including many porcelain dolls, Barbie dolls and dolls brought to her from her daughter's many trips around the globe (they were also her babies). Dolores believed that you showed people how you felt with your actions. She loved Jesus, her children her church, her pets and yes, her dolls. We love you Mama Dolores and know that you are now in the arms of Your Lord, Jesus Christ.
You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, your have kept the faith 2 Timothy 4:7
