Donna Cavalari passed away on Tuesday May 14, 2024. She was born in Newburgh on July 16, 1953 to Eddie and Margaret Smith to a family tree that can be traced back in Newburgh into the mid 1800s. She is survived by her three children John Cavalari (Yasenia), Therése Cavalari, and Tammy Skriver and predeceased by her husband John.

Donna married her best friend John Cavalari in 1983 and continued on as a homemaker and mother. Throughout her life she found herself proudly working many roles including terrible bartender, butcher, and fish monger. She always gave 110% in her positions and was proud to succeed in her roles. In her later years she found joy in working as a CNA and in retirement as a a bus monitor. She found fulfillment in caring for others and did so very well.

Donna loved vanilla ice cream, thrifting, and a good bargain. She was particularly known for her sense of humor and found talent in thinking outside of the box to get to the punch line. She enjoyed giving cards and did so for all occasions, always looking forward to the opportunity to gift the funniest ones. Donna enjoyed antiques and throughout her life found success in collecting, buying, and selling as a past time. Most importantly, Donna was an animal lover, a trait she imparted on her children, John and Therése. She leaves behind her beloved cat Che Che whom was a great and loyal friend to her.

We sadly mourn her passing but celebrate our time with her. Donna was a loving mother and wife and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday May 17, 2024 at Brooks Funeral Home 481 Gidney Ave, Newburgh from 10AM to 11AM. A Funeral Home Service will be held at 11AM. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.
