Dorothy "Dottie" Moran Crawford

February 23, 1941 – October 5, 2025

Dorothy "Dottie" Moran Crawford of Newburgh, New York, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, October 5, 2025. She was born on Sunday, February 23, 1941, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Greenwich Village, New York City.

Dottie was the beloved daughter of George and Dorothy Moran and was raised in the Bronx, where she attended parochial school. In 1959, she married John Crawford and began her journey as a devoted wife and mother — the heart and strength of her family.

Her greatest joy was always her children and family. While raising her family, Dottie also built a full career, including serving as mailroom supervisor at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh. Later in life, her loving and nurturing nature led her to become a "super nanny" for several families. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, especially with her two youngest playing a dual role, helping to guide and shape them with her love, patience and wisdom.

One of Dottie's most treasured memories was a special visit from her grandson Matthew in her final days — a moment that filled her heart with peace and love.

Dottie loved the beach, reading romance novels, and swimming. She spent many happy summers near the water, soaking up the sun and laughter with those she loved most.

She is predeceased by her parents, George and Dorothy Moran, and her sisters, Patricia Donovan and Maureen "Rennie" Hoban. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Byrne; the father of her children, John Crawford; and her loving children: John Crawford and his wife Christine, Debbie Iles and her husband Robson Almeida, David Crawford and his wife Lisa, Edward "Eddie" Crawford and his girlfriend Alana Blake, and Dorothy "Dori" Buchalter and her husband Scott.

Dottie is also survived by her cherished grandchildren — Jack Crawford, Colin Crawford, Kevin Crawford, Matthew Iles, Benjamin Buchalter, and Bryce Buchalter — and her beloved great-grandchildren, Blair and Cash. She is further survived by her many loving nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Dottie's love, warmth, humor, and devotion will be remembered forever by all who were blessed to know her. But the very best part of her - was all her children!!
