It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Earl S. Hammonds Sr. He was 69 years old. Earl passed away at his home in Newburgh, NY on February 25, 2026.
He was born November 14, 1956in Yonkers, NY to the late Harold Hammonds and Vernell Patterson. He has a sister, Harriet of Yonkers, a brother Johnny of N.C., Edward and Derek of Yonkers are both predeceased.
After graduating from Yonkers High School he moved to Newburgh, NY where he has lived most of his life. Earl was employed by Penn Enterprises at West Point, NY as a truck Driver. He also delivered furniture for Warehouse Furniture of Newburgh, NY.
Earl leaves behind to cherish his love and memories his wife of 25 years Patricia Horaz. His three children and great grandchildren. Earl Jr. of N.C and his 5 children, Tyshaunique of NY, Nas Mair of NC, Quanisha of NC, Indy of NC, and Isabelle of NC. His daughters Tiffany Seabrrook of Yonkers and her son Brian Booker of Florida and his daughter Lesheka Cardwell and son-in-law Ian Graham of Yonkers and her daughter Jy'Tira Lockhart of Yonkers. He will also be missed by Jason Horaz (Patricia) and his two children Jordan and Jayden. He also leaves a host of other family members and friends.
Anyone that knew Earl would know he was an avid fisherman. Anytime the opportunity arose he would go fishing whether it was deep sea, or stripers at the lake. He would have at least two poles in the water. He also enjoyed backyard BBQs with friends, family and neighbors, along with cook outs on the beach.
Earl had a fierce love for animals, primarily dogs. Over the last couple of years, he also became a cat lover.
He will be greatly missed by Onyx(dog), Sky and Tiger(his cats).
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 6th, from 6:00pm ~ 8:00pm with a funeral service beginning at 7:00pm at the Brooks Funeral Home located at 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY.
