Edris Maria (Ramnauth) Lenart, affectionately known as Candy and Candyce, of New Windsor, New York, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York. She was born on May 28, 1939, in Trinidad and Tobago to her devoted parents, Thelma Rechais and Joseph (Joey Carew) Ramnauth. Raised as a Roman Catholic, Edris attended Mon Repos Girls' Roman Catholic School in Trinidad.

Edris served honorably in the United States Army as an active-duty soldier, working as a Medical Specialist, Military Chef, and Dining Facility Manager from 1976 to 1986. During her tenure, she earned several commendations, including Marksman with an M-16 rifle, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Ribbon, and the Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Professional Development Ribbon.

Edris completed multiple tours overseas in Europe, where she met, fell in love with, and married her best friend and the love of her life, Stefan Lenart. After courting for several years, they were married on February 12, 1987, in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Before and after her military service, Edris worked as an Educator and, more recently, served as an Election Supervisor in Orange County, New York.

Edris leaves to cherish her memory her loving and dedicated husband of nearly 40 years, Stefan Lenart; her daughter, Roxanne Ramnauth; her grandchildren, Nigel Ramnauth, Safari Ramnauth Harris, Sabrina Vargas, Mikayla Ramnauth, Jaffa Graves, Maya Ramnauth, Yazmeen Ramnauth, and Gianni Graves; and her great-grandchildren, Antonio Ramnauth and Rama Hodge.

She is also survived by her siblings, Mavis Guppy, Carlton Ramnauth, Alma Ramnauth, and Victor Ramnauth; her nieces, Rosalyn Guppy, Gillian Mahadeo, Caron Ramnauth, Ikeisha Ramnauth, Natalie Ramnauth, Natasha Ramnauth, Sherma Ramnauth, and Stacey Ramnauth; her nephews, Gerard Mahadeo, Ainsley Guppy, Ainsworth Guppy, Carlon Ramnauth, Carlos Ramnauth, Kevin Ramnauth, and Stefan Ramnauth; her sisters-in-law, Joanne Ramnauth and Stella Macleod;

her daughter-in-law, Beatrice Ramnauth; her son-in-law, Jaffa Graves Sr.; and countless grandnephews, grandnieces, and dear friends.

She is now united in glory with her parents, Thelma Rechais and Carew Ramnauth; her son, Barney Ramnauth; her brothers, Clifford Ramnauth, Hollis Ramnauth, Neville Ramnauth, and Hubert Rechais; her sister, Sybil (Ramnauth) Mahadeo; her nephew, Darryl Ramnauth; and many other cherished family members and friends.

A heartfelt thank you and sincere appreciation to her niece, Rosalyn Guppy; her sisters, Mavis Guppy and Alma Ramnauth; her friends, Wilma Phillip and Stella Macleod; and her cherished second son, Andre King, for their unwavering support and presence throughout her journey. She held each of you in the highest regard and loved you deeply.

Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Monday, December 9 from 4 - 6 PM, with a prayer service beginning at 5:30. An inurnment service will take place at Orange County Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, December 11 at 12 PM.
