Edward Jay Bernor, 67, of Newburgh, New York, passed away on January 26, 2026.

Edward was born on September 22, 1958, in Pontiac, Michigan to Nelson Bernor and Violet Likens. He spent much of his working life in roofing and construction, dedicating himself to his trade.

Edward's life was marked by both hard-fought challenges and moments of love that those who knew him will carry in their own ways. His journey was complex, shaped by personal challenges as well as glimpses of tenderness that reflected the depth of his humanity. His passing invites reflection, compassion, and prayer for all who carry unseen burdens.

Edward is survived by his children and extended family members who hold a range of memories that speak to the complexity of his life. Among those memories are moments of affection and words of love that will not be forgotten.

The family finds comfort in their faith, trusting in God's mercy and believing that the Lord meets each of us with understanding beyond our human limitations. As Scripture reminds us, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:18)

A private cremation has taken place. The family asks for continued prayers for peace, healing, and compassion for all families impacted by addiction.
