Edward A. Segali Jr., 80, of Newburgh, NY, passed away on December 27, 2025.
Born on June 16, 1945, in Weehawken, NJ, Ed was the son of the late Edward and Mary Segali. He graduated from St. Joseph's High School in West New York, NJ in 1963 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ in 1967. Ed was a brother of the Chi Psi Fraternity, Alpha Xi Chapter ("The Lodge"), at Stevens Institute of Technology, where he proudly led his beloved brotherhood as President to win the 1966 Thayer Trophy, the fraternity's highest honor for the most outstanding chapter in the nation.
Ed began his professional career with the Engineering Department of NJ Bell Telephone Company, where he worked from 1967 to 1970. In 1970, he became General Manager of Scale's Manufacturing Company in Newburgh, NY, a position he held until 1976. That year marked a significant milestone when he founded Amcrete Products, Inc., where he served as President until his retirement in 2017. Along with his hard work, knowledge and dedication to servicing the customers, he was known throughout the construction industry for his honesty and integrity.
Throughout his career, Ed was an active member of several professional organizations. He contributed to the advancement of his field through involvement with the New York Concrete Pipe Association, Precast Concrete Association of New York, Construction Industry Council, Construction Contractors Association Board of Directors, and Associated General Contractors of New York.
Ed was married to Jane Wallace Segali from 1966 until her passing in 1996. In 1999, he married Ruth Carulli Segali, with whom he shared the later years of his life.
He is remembered by his children, Ed Segali (Stacy); Lisa Segali (John Rotundo); and Michael Segali (Gina); his stepsons, Patrick VanAmburgh (Samantha) and Daniel VanAmburgh (Kortney); and his daughter-in-law, Kerin VanAmburgh. He was predeceased by his stepson, Kevin VanAmburgh. Ed was a proud grandfather to Ryan, Matthew, and Kevin Segali; Kate and Michael Rotundo; Siena and Bella Segali; Gavin, Tommy, Addie, and Aubree VanAmburgh. He is also survived by his siblings, Liz Clarke (Steve); Tina Segali (Frank Cocuzza, deceased); and Phil Segali (Elaine); as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
A wake will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 4pm to 7pm at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY. Funeral service will be held at 11am, Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Brooks Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 304 Walsh Ave, New Windsor, NY.

Ed's legacy lives on through his family, friends and the many colleagues who knew him through decades of dedicated work in engineering and construction. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
