Edward A. Thomas

August 24, 1940 ~ February 17, 2026

Edward Thomas was born on August 24th 1940, in Albany NY. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away on February 17th at his home in Newburgh NY, surrounded by the love of his family.

On October 14, 1961, Edward married his high school sweetheart, Jane Hurley. Both graduates of Vincentian Institute in Albany, they shared 64 beautiful years of marriage built on love, loyalty, and partnership.

Edward honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for 21 years. After retiring from military service, he continued his career with IBM for 17 years and later completed his professional journey with 10 years of dedicated service to the Department of Defense.

Edward had great pride in his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Jane; his seven children: Karen; Edward with his wife Kitty, Beth Anne, Kenneth, Pamela with her husband Thomas; Mark with his wife Kelly; and Stephen with his wife Becky. He was a cherished grandfather to 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In his quieter moments, Edward found joy at his cabin on Sucker Lake, where he loved hunting and fishing. The cabin was more than a retreat — it was a place of tradition, stories, and time well spent with family.

Edward will be remembered for his steadfast character, his dedication to his country, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy of service, strength, and devotion will live on in all who knew and loved him. A Viewing and Funeral will be held on February 20, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home 481 Gidney Ave. Immediately following the burial services will be held at The Orange County Veteran's cemetery in Goshen, NY.
