Eileen J. Wilcox, 75, entered into rest on Monday, July 30, 2018. The daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Perlak) Makosky, she was born June 20, 1943 in Greenpoint, NY.Eileen filled any space with light and warmth and was a friend to anyone she met. Her love of art, nature, acting, food and fashion gave rise to an expansive and diverse group of friends who loved her dearly. She discovered something unique and special in everyone, and always remembered your name. She excelled in performance in any venue, formal or otherwise, and her story of the moment was always compelling. Eileen believed in the importance of communing with nature and took every opportunity to be outside. She was an original "foodie," preparing scratch-made pizza in her home brick oven and combing farm stands for ingredients way before this was chic. She shared this love of local treasures with all who knew her, and we always marveled at her unique skill for finding a hidden gem of a restaurant where you'd least expect it. Eileen is survived by her daughter, Cari Dillard and her husband Adam of Clemmons, NC; her sister Carol Durazzo and her brother Thomas Makosky, both of The Villages, FL; and her grandson Aiden Dillard. A Celebration of Life will be held in the fall, details to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eileen's memory will be used to set up a scholarship fund at the High School of Art and Design, 245 East 56 Street New York, NY 10022.
