Elizabeth (Betty) A. Eagle, age 89, of the Town of Newburgh, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on December 25, 2021, sadly only in the company of the medical staff at St. Luke's Montefiore Hospital. Her passing was sudden due to a Covid infection and followed nearly 2 years of heartbreaking Covid-sequester at Sapphire Nursing Home where she struggled with COPD/dementia.
Mom resided in the Newburgh area most of her life and was a 42 year career registered nurse having retired in 1997 from Castle Point VA Hospital after 35 years of service.
She is survived by her three children: Donald Deyo (Carol) from Connecticut, Robert Deyo (Fiorina) from Newburgh, Cynthia Eagle from NYC; three siblings Alanson (Sonny) Short Jr. (Marie deceased) from Kentucky, William Short (Dorothy) from Florida, Beverly Ferguson (Samuel deceased) from Texas; two grandchildren Robert (Tony) Deyo (and wife Katherine Stoll) from Newburgh, Ashley Deyo (and fiancé Kevin Kelly) from Milton; two great-grandchildren Lucas and Noah; and beloved Bichon Frise pet Patron.
Mom was predeceased by her parents Alanson Short Sr. and Mary Short (Jordan) of Newburgh and five aunts and uncles.
There will not be any visitation.
