Elizabeth
Gregorec
November 3, 1933 – October 15, 2023
Elizabeth "Betty" Gregorec
Elizabeth "Betty" Gregorec entered into eternal peace on October 15, 2023. She was 89 years old. Betty resided at Sapphire Nursing Home at Meadow Hill.
Betty was one of seven children, the daughter of the late George and Mary (Powell) Kelemen. Born in Roseton, NY, she lived in this small town her entire life. Betty loved her Catholic Chapel, Our Lady of Mercy Church. She devoted decades to this chapel, including caring for it and singing in the choir with her sisters. Her voice was beautiful. For the most part, Betty was a stay at home mom who cared for her children and later her grandchildren.
On October 2, 1955, Betty married her husband, Frank Gregorec. Together they raised three children: daughters, Mary Fescoe and Susan Madaia, and their son, Frank. Both Frank and Bettyenjoyed watching their grandchildren playnumerous sports. They rarely missed any games.
Betty is survived by her children, Mary Fescoe, Susan Madaia, and Frank Gregorec; grandsons, Michael Madaia and wife Terri, Johnny Fescoe and wife Kristin; her only granddaughter, Meghan Hurlburt and husband Eric; two great grandchildren, Eric John "EJ" and Luchiana "Lulu". She is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Evangelisto and Priscilla Shovan; and numerous nieces and nephews, too many to mention, but all loved. Betty was sadly predeceased by her grandson, Matthew Madaia, and sons-in-law, John Fescoe, Jr and Mike Madaia. She was also predeceased by her siblings Anne Monti, Mary Kartis, Dorothy Szeli, and George Kelemen; her parents; and her loving husband, Frank.
A very heartfelt thank you to the staff of Sapphire at Meadow Hill, with the deepest respect and gratitude of the 1 West staff. Frank and Betty called Sapphire their home, and were treated with both love and kindness always. Frank and Betty loved all of the staff.
Cremation and funeral arrangements will be private, at Betty's request. A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at a later date.
