Elsie M. Beauchamp
August 18, 1932 ~ October 15, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elsie M. Beauchamp who died peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 in New City, NY.
Elsie was a woman of grace, humor and understanding. Born in Pinehurst, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Flossie Frye and William Medford. She grew up in the Pinehurst area and graduated from West End High School in 1950.
While working at a summer resort in Tupper Lake, NY Elsie met the love of her life, Francis David ("Dave") Beauchamp. They married in 1954 and settled in New Windsor, NY where they raised three children, Donna, Michael and Teri, instilling in them the values of hard work, kindness and love of family.
Elsie pursued a career in nursing, first as an R.N. working for several years at Cornwall Hospital and, after earning her B.S.N. at Oneonta State, as a beloved school nurse teacher at Vails Gate and St. Joseph's schools in New Windsor.
"Where there's a will, there's a way" - a motto ascribed to Elsie in nursing school - became Elsie's motto throughout life. She had a zest for living, was eager to learn something new and was always on the move. She loved working on the PGA tour, playing golf with Dave, taking long walks, playing bridge, dancing, (receiving the "best dancer" award in high school), volunteering, traveling and shopping for the perfect pair of shoes. Her email address, "elsieshop" suited her well. She cherished fun times with friends and family and was always ready to share a good joke and a hearty laugh. She was admired for her sense of humor, independent spirit and kindness towards all.
A devout Catholic, her faith was a cornerstone of her identity. She lived her beliefs through her charitable actions while volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and the Make a Wish Foundation. She also served as a docent at the Kykuit Rockefeller Estate.
Elsie maintained many dear friendships throughout her life and treasured her close bonds with family members, especially her grandchildren of whom she was most proud.
Elsie is predeceased by her husband, Dave; her son, Michael David Beauchamp; her daughter, Teri Kincade; and her brother Richard Grier Medford. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Donna Lewis and husband Mickey; her son-in-law Craig Kincade; her grandchildren Jessica Maktal, Aimee Belser, Sean Kincade, Joshua Kincade, Dylan Kincade, Jaclyn Kincade and her great-grandchildren Odin, Sabine, Beatrice, Julien, Christopher and Kimberly.
Elsie leaves behind a legacy of poise, compassion, laughter and love. She touched countless lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral wake on Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 2 - 5pm at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh, NY. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 10 am at St. Francis Church in Newburgh, NY followed by burial at St. Francis Cemetery in New Windsor, NY.
