Elsie Scotto

Elsie Adeline Witschard Scotto, 95, passed peacefully on October 15", 2025 in Rochester, New York surrounded by family. Elsie was born to the late Oswald and Clementine Witschard on July 29,1930 in St, Albans, NY She was predeceased by her husband John Scotto of 51 years, her parents, and sisters Erna Moriello and Edie VanDuzer. She was a loving mother of 4; Anna Marie Barclay (David) of Bergen, NY, Louis Scotto (Gail) of Wappinger Falls, NY, Anthony (Maureen) of Apollo Beach, FL, and Diane (late Gary) Kosteczko of Wallkill, NY. Her 10 grandchildren and 19 great children felt her immense love each and every day. Memories of family holidays, sports games, shopping trips, vacations at LBI, or simply time together will be cherished always.

Elsie graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and was noted as the girl with the brilliant smile. As a cafeteria monitor and then cook at the Leptondale Elementary School she touched many young lives. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Red Hats, and the Modena Seniors Group.

An avid and gifted knitter and crocheter she donated many preemie hats to hospitals. Her handmade afghans are spread throughout her family and friends.

Visitation will be held on October20, 2025 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm with a memorial service to follow at Brooks Funeral Home at 481 Gidney Avenue in Newburgh, NY.

Entombment at Cedar Hill Mausoleum will be private.
