Emine Koparan

January 11, 1937 ~ December 21, 2024

Emine "Amy" Koparan, beloved wife, mother, nana and friend to many passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Mom was born in Belgrade, (former) Yugoslavia and emigrated alone to the United States in 1956. Our dad, followed her to the United States and they married in 1958 until his passing in 1992.

Mom spoke five languages and lived in many European countries throughout her childhood.  Child of war. She was a woman of strength and raised two daughters to be independent and strong. She established herself as a successful business owner of Amy's Beauty Salon (aka "Amy's beauties") in Monroe, NY.

Mom was loved by her daughters Tulin Koparan & Aylin Ippolito.  Her caring and loving son-in- law, Tim who went alone and spent time with Mom during those tough months. Mom was also the super proud nana of four grandchildren, Shaun (Taylor), Erick (Devina), Eian (Kristen) & Sara who brought immense joy to her life. Not only did she adore her grandchildren and extended family, she had lifelong friends that were her sisters to her.

Private graveside services will be held at the Cemetery of the Highlands - 634 Route 32, Highland Mills.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Sapphire Nursing at Meadow Hill for their compassion and care during our moms final months. Some that become family to us.
