Esther J. Johnston

Esther Johnston, 85, of Newburgh, NY passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Nyack Hospital in Nyack, NY.

Esther was born on March 12, 1939 in Newburgh, NY to the late Joseph Latham and Eleanor Parker. She has one brother and one sister. She was retired from the Teamsters Local 445, and worked at IBM for 10 years, and at Star Expansion for 20 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Richard Latham of Newburgh, NY; David Johnston of Middletown, NY; Esther Johnston of Newburgh, NY; and Joy Latham of Copake, NY; her grandchildren: Gabrielle Knittle, Devynn Bessette, and Dustin Bessette; great-grandchild, Dylan Bessette; one niece, Sonya Latham; and many friends.

When loved ones go before us

We may feel that we're alone,

But there is still another life

We haven't yet been shown.

For there's a bright and happy world

We are meant to see

When we too learn that death

Is birth into eternity.

The family graciously acknowledges the many acts of kindness that have been bestowed upon us during this dark hour. Your concern has eased our burden, and your love has brightened our hearts.

A graveside service will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery on Friday, February 14 at 11 AM.
