Frank Monaco, 95, of Newburgh, NY passed away on Friday, December 31 in Newburgh. The son of the late Cesidio and Barbara (Fusco) Monaco. He was born on November 5, 1926 in Newburgh, NY.
Frank Attended high school at Newburgh Free Academy. In his youth he was a member of a tap-dancing trio known as the "The Monaco trio" along with his brother Tom and sister Connie. Frank was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church as well as the Heights Athletic Club. He loved feeding birds down by the Newburgh Waterfront, enjoyed watching baseball, football, and horse racing. Frank served in the US Navy during World War II, and was an active US Navy reserve member for 6 years. He also was a shop steward at West Point for local 17 construction union, and the secretary treasurer of local 17, and also the owner of the Angus Tavern in Newburgh. Frank married his loving wife Frances (Santoro) Monaco on January 18, 1952.
In addition to his wife Frances Monaco, he is survived by his children; Barbara Pirillo and Anthony Monaco; grandchildren: Michelle Greco, Ashley Monaco, Anthony Pirillo and Michael Pirillo; very close niece Angelina Monaco; Nephew Rick Orsini, as well as several nieces and nephews; best friend Gerry Camacho; and family pets Mia and Princess.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by all of his siblings Joe, John, Freddy, Carmen, Nick, Tom, Margret, Peggy and Connie; son in law August Pirillo, sister and brother-in-law Mario and Marion Orsini and niece Francine Orsini.
A special thank you to the hospital staff at St. Luke's, and a very special thank you to Dr. Joseph Jorge, Frank's favorite and most trusted doctor.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 4 at Brooks Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday, January 5 at Sacred Heart Church at 11 a.m. with burial following in Calvary Cemetery.
