Born on September 17, 1966, in Newburgh, New York, Frank Anthony Vanleeuwen, Sr. built a life marked by knowledge, steady presence, and an enduring willingness to help others. He attended Cornwall Central High School and Colorado Aero Tech, and throughout his life he was known as someone who could understand how things worked, how people worked, and what was needed in the moment.

Frank was someone whose heart was immeasurable. He stepped in when needed and offered a helping hand without hesitation. He included the people around him, whether family, friends, or strangers, and brought others into whatever he was doing with a natural sense of openness. He was often regarded as the smartest person in the room, not only because of what he knew, but because of how well he could read people, care for them, and communicate with them.

That practical intelligence showed itself again and again in the way Frank approached life. He knew how to fix what was broken, from a broken leg on a dining room chair to a head gasket in a 1967 Corvette. He was a man of skill and persistence, someone who could look at a problem, take it apart, understand it, and set it right. Tinkering, fixing, and building were not simply hobbies to him; they were part of the way he moved through the world. He took satisfaction in working with his hands and in seeing something repaired, restored, or made useful again.

Frank also found enjoyment in golf, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling. These interests reflected the active, capable spirit that shaped so much of his life. Whether he was outdoors or in the garage, he brought the same focus, energy, and familiarity with the task before him.

To his father, Louis Sr., Frank was always that little kid tinkering on something in the garage together, even as he grew older. That image remained a lasting one: a son with curiosity in his hands and purpose in his work. To his mother, Sandra, he was someone dependable and constant. She could count on him to do anything around the house, and she could count on him to put together a good family dinner. In both the everyday and the important moments, he was reliable.

To his brother, Louis Jr., Frank was a built-in best friend and someone he could go to for anything. Their bond was one of closeness and trust, grounded in a lifetime of shared family and mutual support.

Frank’s deepest role was within his family. He is remembered by his sons, Frank Jr., Brandon, and Justin; his father, Louis Sr.; his mother, Sandra; his brother, Louis Jr.; and his grandson, Brycen. To his sons, Frank was everything. He was a mentor, a provider, and, most of all, a hero to them. Those words speak plainly and powerfully to the place he held in their lives and to the example he set each day.

Frank Anthony Vanleeuwen, Sr. will be remembered for the strength of his character, the breadth of his abilities, and the way he made himself available to others. He was the person many could rely on, the one who would show up, figure it out, and help carry the load.
