Fred Massingale, 88, of Newburgh, NY, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025 after a long illness.
Born on June 18, 1936, to the late William and Willie Mae Massingale, Fred lived a life marked by service, devotion, and quiet strength. In 1954, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War, traveling the world and building lasting bonds.

He was a devoted father to the late Kim Robin Massingale Chilton (husband Steve Chilton), Fred Massingale Jr, and Jarib Fred Massingale (wife Daphny Massingale). He was also a loving stepfather to Kenneth C. Scott and the late Robert Von Scott and Dana Danielle Scott.

He is survived by his brother Donald Massingale and was preceded in death by his siblings Estelle Massingale Lambers, Irene Louise Massingale Nichols, and William Alexander Massingale III.
Fred will be remembered as a kind, generous, and principled man—a true provider and a loving patriarch. He enjoyed Westerns, good stories, spirited debates, fishing, and most of all, time spent with family and friends.
His legacy of love, strength, and quiet wisdom lives on in all who knew him.
